Just a quick shout out to Westport, New Zealand for being such a great time! We initially didn’t plan on stopping here but it was on our alway south and we didn’t know anything about it, so we figured why not!?
Westport is a tiny little town on the coast with a grocery store, a few coffee shops, and (most importantly) a surf shop! While driving down Main Street we stopped in “Surf Fevah” and met the owner, Carg, a local who opened the shop a few years ago. He was by far one of the nicest people we have met on our trip, and it felt like we had known him for years! He spent a ton of time talking to us about the area and which spots we should check out (easier spots for Taylor and more rippin spots for Tristan). Oh and he also had the sweetest dog, Luna:

So we rented boards and wetsuits for a full day (which was only $25 US dollars per person!) and headed to the beach.
Tristan scoping the scene:

Taylor (unfortunately) caught a sweet wave on her first try. This was unfortunate because it set the bar WAY too high for the rest of the day. There may have been a few tumbles, a few nose dives, and few (a lot) face fulls of water, but it was a success overall!
Taylor 50% trying to surf, 50% patrolling for sharks:

Then we went to a more challenging beach where Tristan surfed and Taylor paparazzied from the shore. While on shore, she made the discovery that if you hold your phone up to a pair of binoculars (very very VERY carefully) it can work as a zoom for your phone. So she got a few sweet vids of Tristan shreading the gnar (as you can see below).
All in all, Westport was a very successful and spontaneous stop. A place we will always think of with a smile on our faces.
Love and hugs from the other side of the world.
